- It goes down your digestive track
- Gets absorbed by your small intestine
- Helps pull nutrients through your bloodstream to your kidneys
- Your kidneys take unfiltered blood and filter out waste and return filtered blood to your body
There are over a million little micro filters, called nephrons, in the kidneys. Nephrons work overtime if you’re dehydrated. Sometimes kidney stones are caused by a build-up of calcium. Doctors will usually recommend drinking plenty of water for people with kidney stones because it helps push things through and prevents crystals from forming.
Reason number 2 - Water is important for your muscles and joints. It is the main component (75%) in muscles. This is why you need to hydrate yourself when you’re working.
Reason number 3 - Bones are made up of 20% water. The water keeps joints lubricated so they could move and it protects them as well.
Reason number 4 - Your brain contains about a liter of water. If your brain is dehydrated, stress hormones are released. That can actually damage your brain over time. If you start to get dehydrated, your brain won’t work as well. A good reason to put a bottle of water into kids’ school lunches so their brains can operate at peak performance during school.
So...what are you waiting for? Grab that glass of bottle of water and drink some down!
