Prostate Cancer and Resveratrol

I am meeting more and more men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Some who are older decide not to do anything about it since it's a slow growing cancer. Others have decided to go the surgery and/or radiation route. If you or men in your life have been diagnosed with prostate cancer or just want to keep up to date on different ways to deal with it, this is a good article to read, save and keep on your computer for future reference. You never know who can use the information.
I read this in Alternative Medicine Magazine and then went to University of Missouri site to verify. Click the link for more information. Definitely worth the read. Not sure if drinking several classes of red wine is the answer (although I'm sure it can be enjoyable), but perhaps supplementing with resveratrol supplements would help. Of course, do your own research.

Resveratrol has been shown to have several beneficial effects on human health, including cardiovascular health and stroke prevention. Now a University of Missouri researcher has discovered that the compound can make prostate tumor cells more susceptible to radiation treatment, increasing the chances of a full recovery from all types of prostate cancer, including aggressive tumors.
Prostate tumor cells contain very low levels of two proteins, perforin and granzyme B, which can function together to kill cells. However, both proteins need to be highly “expressed” to kill tumor cells. When resveratrol was introduced into the prostate tumor cells, the activity of the two proteins increased greatly. Following radiation treatment, up to 97 percent of the tumor cells died, a much higher percentage than treatment with radiation alone.
